Kīholo State Park Reserve offers a captivating glimpse of Hawaii's dramatic coastal landscapes. The park is characterized by rugged lava fields, small picturesque bays, sparse coastal vegetation, historic lava flows, and vast open spaces. Campsites are nestled along an unimproved gravel access road, shaded by kiawe (mesquite) trees, overlooking a pebble beach known as 'ili'ili. While this remote area boasts natural beauty, it is devoid of facilities, and there is no water available. Portable toilets are provided for your convenience.
Camping enthusiasts are welcome to enjoy this pristine environment on weekends only, from Friday through Sunday nights. To secure your spot, you can make reservations up to 30 days in advance of your check-in date. Please note that campers must display overnight parking permits during park closed hours to avoid potential citations or towing at the owner's expense. The park's entrance gates are locked nightly for security purposes, with closure times varying seasonally. From April 1 to Labor Day, the gate is closed from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, while from after Labor Day to March 31, it closes from 6:00 pm to 7:00 am. Discover the unspoiled beauty of Kīholo State Park Reserve for a unique outdoor experience.
