Kalama Beach Park

Explore the Beauty of Oahu

Kalama Beach Park, nestled near Kailua Beach Park in Kailua, exudes a timeless tropical charm with its pristine white sand. This idyllic beach, characterized by gentle waves, proves ideal for novice surfers and bodyboarders, offering a serene alternative to the bustling Kailua Beach nearby. Convenient parking off Kalaheo Avenue leads to the shoreline through a delightful trail, surrounded by native vegetation like beach heliotrope, hau bush, beach naupaka, and coconut trees.

Kalama's coastal greenery boasts beach naupaka, interspersed with ironwood, beach heliotrope, coconut, and hala trees, creating a genuine vacation ambiance. The beach provides a tranquil retreat from urban life, devoid of towering structures even amidst Kailua's recent development. Visitors should be cautious of Portuguese Man-of-War (jellyfish) and stinging limu (seaweed), particularly from June to September.

Known for its winds, Kalama Beach Park attracts kiteboarders, while children frolic within the break. Ample shady spots offer respite from the sun, and a leisurely walk connects Kalama to Kailua, sharing a panoramic view of the Mokulua islands. While lacking lifeguards, the park features picnic areas, restrooms, and showers, enhancing the overall beach experience.
