Wailupe Beach Park

A Coastal Retreat on Oahu

Situated in the serene neighborhood of Aina Haina, Wailupe Beach Park stands as a quaint coastal retreat in east Honolulu. Although the beach is narrow, and the water may appear brown and murky, this haven attracts local residents and fishermen seeking a peaceful escape. However, due to a shallow nearshore ocean bottom and a coral reef, swimming is not recommended.

Conveniently located along Kalanianaole Highway, Wailupe Beach Park offers easy accessibility for those looking to enjoy a seaside picnic or engage in fishing activities. Surfers also find their way to the ocean from this point to reach surf spots like Wailupe, Kim's, Suicides, and Bones offshore.

Despite its small size, the park provides essential amenities such as restrooms, showers, and picnic tables. The adjacent Wailupe Peninsula, once a fishpond in the early 20th century, has evolved into a residential community after being filled with coral and rocks from the construction of the nearby boat channel in the 1930s.
