Snorkeling, Swimming
Nestled discreetly along Kamehameha Highway just north of Waimea Bay, Pūpūkea Beach Park unveils itself as a serene coastal retreat. This secluded beach cove, a hidden treasure on Oahu, promises tranquility and crystal-clear waters during the summer months, establishing it as a premier snorkeling destination.
Although lacking prominent signage, Pūpūkea Beach Park is conveniently situated opposite Foodland and a cluster of local food trucks. Two prominent swimming access points, Shark's Cove and Three Tables, beckon visitors with unique underwater wonders. Shark's Cove, named for its resemblance to a shark when viewed from above, boasts a vibrant reef. Navigating its entry requires caution due to the sharp black lava rocks surrounding the cove. A steep dirt path from the parking lot leads to the rocky shoreline, and wearing tabis (water shoes) is advisable for foot protection. Opt for felt sole tabis for enhanced traction, ensuring a secure aquatic exploration at Pūpūkea Beach Park.
