Keawaʻula Bay

Oahu's Red Bay

Keawa'ula Bay stands as a vast coastal treasure at the western tip of Oahu near the Space Force base. To reach this pristine sandy beach, visitors traverse a short segment of rough dirt road beyond the bay, revealing the remnants of an old scenic railroad, now repurposed into a hiking trail. This trail unfolds towards Ka'ena Point, the island's northwestern tip, featuring a bird sanctuary and a rocky point favored by native monk seals for resting.

Explore Ka'ena Point State Park for free, where the Ka'ena Point trail offers three hiking options. Opt for a 4.8-mile round trip from Yokohama Bay, a 5-mile hike from the North Shore trailhead at Mokule'ia to the point, or embark on the full 9.8-mile trail from Yokohama to Mokule'ia and back. Experience the beauty of Keawa'ula Bay and its surroundings, with the added allure of a refreshing swim at the beach during the hottest part of the day.
