Kaiaka Bay Beach Park

Oahu's Shadowy Sea

Situated on Oahu's serene North Shore on the Kaiaka Point peninsula in Haleiwa, Kaiaka Bay Beach Park unfolds as a spacious 53-acre haven, perfect for relaxation, picnics, and ball games. Enjoying a tranquil setting away from major streets, the park provides a peaceful atmosphere.

Derived from the Hawaiian language, Kaiaka translates to "shadowy sea," reflecting the unique appearance of the ocean in this area, characterized by a brown and murky hue, as if a shadow has draped over it. The west end of the peninsula presents challenges for swimming due to soil runoff from Paukauila and Kiki'i Streams, along with sharp rocks and a dark, detrital sand beach. However, the east end boasts a sandy beach, offering a more suitable spot for a refreshing dip, despite the presence of rocks in the water. Kaiaka Bay Beach Park stands as an ideal retreat for those seeking tranquility on the North Shore.
